Spring Goals Revisited

Location of current subscribers: Martin in South Africa; Shyrley, Steve and Mel are in the United Kingdom; and the rest are in Canada and the United States. Let’s plaster this map with dots!

On March 20th, following Pam Slim’s lead, I set out my goals for my forthcoming autobiography for the spring season with a deadline of June 21st (the first day of summer!). Here’s an update on my progress:

  1. To have the first draft of the book completed.

I am starting to see the light at the end of tunnel; as long as it isn’t the headlight of an oncoming train, then I should be fine. I figure I have two more chapters to write, and then much editing and revising to do. But the first draft should be done by summer solstice.

  2. To choose and set up a newsletter management service.

Done! That was fairly easy – I went with AWeber. It is so nice not having to deal with subscriptions manually. It saves so much time too!

  3. To expand my book update subscriber list from “an intimate number” to 500!

Ok, this is where I am having some difficulty. I have officially surpassed the “intimate number”, but still have a long way to go to reach my goal. At the moment, 58 people have signed up. Thank you. I truly appreciate your support!

A few others signed up, but didn’t confirm their subscription – for whatever reason. A little discouraging when interested individuals are lost because they don’t respond to confirmation request. I guess that is one drawback to a double opt-in newsletter management system.

Despite that one flaw, I am still confident that the goal of 500 subscribers by June 21st is very attainable! As soon as I can I am going to put past newsletters online. That will give individuals instant access to book excerpts. Hopefully that will entice people to sign up!

With continued efforts and perseverance, I know I can find 442 subscribers in the next 17 days. Check back to see how I do! In the meantime, have you subscribed yet?
